Spinal Cancer Overview

SPINAL CANCER
Spinal tumors are tumors of the spinal cord. They are mostly metastases from primary production to other cancers (usually of the breast, prostate and lung cancer). Primary tumors can be benign (eg hemangioma) or malignant.

Depending on their location, tumors of the spinal cord can be:

Extradural - outside the dura mater covering

Intradural - part of the dura

Intramedullary - inside the spinal cord
