Causes Of Liver Cancer

The exact causes of liver cancer is not known at this time. Researchers have identified a number of known risk factors for liver cancer, though. Cirrhosis of the liver, the state is characterized by scarring of the liver, is a risk factor for liver cancer. It has a number of reasons for the excessive, long-term consumption of alcohol is the main reason. Smoking, alcohol abuse and hepatitis are all factors that increase the chances of developing liver cancer.

Other risk factors include hemochromatosis, primary schlerosing cholangitis (PSC) and primary biliary cirrhosis (PBC).
